Welcome to MDMI
Middleware for Messaging

Some efficiencies are universal as are some challenge areas. If we talk about the need for high volume, fast transactions with multiple message formats that need to be translated both ways, which industry are we discussing? If you said “Finance” you are correct. If you said Healthcare or Insurance you are also correct. In fact, any industry that has the “make it fast, deal with high volume and translate messages” challenge can benefit from the Model Driven Message Interoperability standard—Middleware for Messaging™.

OMG's™ Finance Domain Task Force originally developed the Model Driven Message Interoperability standard (MDMI) but its broad applicability was quickly obvious.

Finance and MDMI

For the Finance Industry, this general-purpose specification, written in industry standard UML®, lets financial institutions (FIs) map legacy financial data correctly into ISO 20022 compliant formats. The standard helps FIs readily comply with SEPA through an open standard migration path from legacy messages to modern ones

without rebuilding their systems. The standard also defines mechanisms for FIs to prevent important financial information from being lost or corrupted whenever and wherever data has to be converted from one message format into another message format.

ACORD Framework Proof of Concept
Value of Information Model Being Illustrated by Solution Providers

ACORD (www.acord.org) announced today that Proof of Concept (POC) activities are underway to validate the technical aspects of the ACORD Framework.

Over the past few years, much work has been done on the development of the ACORD Framework and all of its facets. This POC will continue to validate the activities already accomplished by the membership and increase the value to the industry.

The focus of this POC is on how mappings are created and rendered to provide a more consumable output for use by the insurance industry. In order to validate such output, ACORD is investigating the use of the Object Management Group's (OMG) Model Drive Message Interoperability (MDMI) standard with software vendors such as Microsoft, TIBCO, Informatica, and Progress Software.
